Rooms made of moving pictures.

After having studied architecture Markus Bader has been working as a freelance director for TV commercials and music video clips. He has found the interface as visual artist building rooms on moving pictures.

His installations are different from the ordinary visuals shown on a two- dimensional screen. He forms a room by itself setting up several projections at one time.

The contents of the images are mostly shot or animated by Markus Bader himself. Movies are repainted, ink stains merge with newspaper clips and old pictures revive - a unique experience.

On concerts the stage designer succeeds at adapting himself to any location.

Each track is seen from a different perspective. Mixing the pictures live gives them the characteristics of a video clip and using cameras attached to the fingers of the musicians he bewilders the viewing habits of the audience. Very intimate shots of the musicians are integrated into the visuals. Sound, musicians and animation become one.

Markus Bader sets his pictures in a certain context to the music and the location creating another atmosphere underlining the mood of the music.

He still connects commercials, music video clips and his installations.

This is how an idea of a visual turned into a video clip for the Phoneheads which has been nominated as “Best German Music Video Clip” in Oberhausen in 2003.
